The Democrat's Vision

I only have a short time to get this started, but I'll add to it later today. But I want to get readers' take on what I see shaping up to be a rather remarkable message from the Democrat party to the American people.

Ted Kulongoski is now riding his bike to the Capitol, acknowledging it is a symbolic move, but that he wants citizens to know that "there's a lifestyle change coming."

Barack Obama stood in front of 75,000 Oregonians and told us that we can't expect to heat or cool our homes like we want, and eat whatever we want.

Really? That is their vision? An America for the first time in history that cannot grow, cannot enhance prosperity of its people? THAT is what they are selling? Are you buying it?

If we as a nation are in the situation where we have to change our lifestyle, it is because we've allowed Democrat policies to make it impossible to grow. Thanks to their policies, we are the only nation on the face of the Earth that refuses to take advantage of its own natural resources. They have largely locked them down.

And now they tell us that we have to live like the third world.

I have a better idea: reject their policies. I gotta go, will be back later.

Continuation 7:59 AM

One of the things we should reject is the ridiculous "cap & trade" scheme that the U.S. Senate has agreed to debate. This is the centerpiece of the Democrats (and gullible Republican) anti-prosperity program. It would constitute the largest tax increase ever levied on our economy, and it would do it in a way that is a politician's and bureaucrat's dream - they get to choose who pays it, who gets rich off it, and the money flows to the government.

Make no mistake, it is a job killer. They are pretending that it uses "market forces" to efficiently allocate the carbon credits. Bullshit. As George Will wrote this weekend, it doesn't create a market, it creates a scarcity imposed by government, and then enriches the government as people must pay for the artificial scarcity.

Watch Gordon Smith closely on this one. If he votes for this, I am done with him. I have tolerated his craven political manueverings so far, nauseating though they are. But this, for me, is the single biggest issue to come down the pike in decades.

More later, as I get time. But my question for now is: why do Democrats want to madate misery?

. . . as he was telling me about the, and I believe he said "severe lifestyle change" - I saw Kulongoski's face wrinkle into a seemingly knowing little smirk. It was as if he had to supress the wink and nod one co-conspirator would give another.
"Why didn't you tell the public, Mr. Governor?"
"Plausible deniability"

Take a look at Figure 2b.

http://tinyurl.com/59essg

Lefties have given up God, but they haven't given up godliness.

By defining the issues of future development as an question of "sustainability", the ineffable conceit of the Lefty elitist is on open display.

The Elite don't trust the hoi polloi to make decisions for themselves. They don't have the Vision, the insight, training, education or intellect to responsibly choose, for themselves, the path of pursuit of happiness.

Left alone, the hoi polloi will buy SUV's, the NASCAR Channel and Big Screen TV's.

And they can show you that this is simply not "sustainable."

Scratch the surface of anyone who uses the word "sustainability" in his conversation, and you'll find red. From Malthus, to Ehrlich, to Gore, these folks fail to recognize the inherent strength of the human species.

Our ability to adapt. To create innovations that have never been imagined. Utilization of resources that have never been tried before. They are Elite, gloomy globalists and Chicken Littles, who, hearing their own cry of "the sky is falling" are bravely willing to lead us to their own vision of a safe harbour. Back to the caves.

Where humanity is nothing more than a biomass that needs, like a good garden, a little tending.

Senator Smith got one right earlier with his vote on immigration. His constant--or near constant--apostacy to the fundamentals of limited government and maximum human freedom of choice has dimmed his value of Republican to an almost diminishing point. If he gets this one right, there is still cause to choose to vote for him this fall.

Out of 3,562 Republicans who took the time to vote in May, only 2,754 chose to vote for Senator Smith. 524 voted for (who?) Gordon Leitch. And at $200.00 in campaign contribution per vote, that is a shortfall of $104,800.00 that won't be contributed to Senator Smith's campaign.

View me as a question of sustainability and you view me as cattle.

And I resent that. Someone needs to read a book.

I don't know why they want to mandate misery, but it's freaking me out!
Is it a religion? A conspiracy? Whatever the underlying agenda is, it's going to ruin our lives, our freedoms, everything!

Democrats have been working for decades on their main goal - to force more and more Americans to become dependent on the government. Their strategy has a number of thrusts, and many have a common theme - destruction of the free economy. People without jobs - or who have low-paying jobs - are more likely to need government's help. This is what the environmental movement (including "sustainability" and "global warming") of the Democrat party is all about.

As part of this, you see efforts by the Democrats to destroy any institution on which people might rely more than government. This explains their support for gay marriage and adoption and opposition to organized religion. It's why they are soft on crime, why they are anti-business.

Once you start viewing Democrats through this lens, you will find that every policy they support has one underlying goal - to force all Americans to learn to turn to government as the solution of first resort for any problem.

Obama:we can't expect to heat or cool our homes like we want, and eat whatever we want.

It's called free market, fool! Did Obamdude ever hear free market in Harvard? When I think electricity is expensive, I put on extra blanket and turn off the heater (or at least lower the thermostat). As food becomes expensive, I buy more generic brand and/or eat less meat and more vegetables.

JK Welcome to the third world lifestyle the progressives have in store for the rest of us. A worker's paradise of equal misery. But most of them are too stupid to realize what they wish for.

Thanks
JK
